I don't know about all this single parent stuff, though. A single parent with good values can raise a balanced child. The problem is that single parents are usually unbalanced, which is why they're a single parent in the first place. Men acknowledge that they should have a woman in their lives to help raise their child or children, but women are the ones who believe they "don't need a man". News Flash...there are no perfect parents or families. I'm pretty old, but when I grew up (2 parent household) it was COMMON to be be beat with a belt if we were out of line. It wasn't just my family, it was ALL the families that I knew where I grew up. It wasn't considered abuse, it was what it was. These were church going folks too.

Point being, my folks had 10 kids, 8 graduated university. 9 made positive contributions to the world. They weren't perfect, but I don't blame them for everything in my life that doesn't work. This also isn't just about black folks. I'm a pasty faced white boy.

Its more to it than just parents! I grew up with both my parents and I eneded up in prison for 3 yrs! The most important factor in a childs life is there environment. Children are mostly influenced by there friends and schoolmates. Who they hang out with and where they hang out are ten times more important than having both parents! For instance you hang out on the "block" with your friends and steal candy from the liqour store or you hang out at the local teen recreation center where there is some supervision!

Im really only concern about our community. What other racial groups do in there community is there business. We need to get back to the basics. The divine order calls for both man and woman to submit themselves to god. But the woman is to submit to god and to her men. Man is to love his women/companion and give his life for her like yashur/christ did for the church. Of course this has to be a good man your submitting yourself too that holds your best interests at heart. He will protect you, provide for you( within reason), not deceive you and not hurt you. So when you see a man that willing to do those things hold on to him and submit to him. If he's not willing to do those things than you should move on. Kids need their father and a male role model in the house. A woman can't raise a man. However, there are exceptions. Some mothers have proven strong enough to fill in the void left by the man in the house and raise good kids. It is always good and healthy to have a good father in the house, growing up as kids.

There are many single parent homes and the children are fine. I have children, I am single and my children are well balanced. So to put all single parents under the same umbrella, that the children will not be balanced is rediculous. And if her father had been there in her life, it still doesn't mean that she would not have lost her virginity at a young age, so the blame is not on her mother, the blame is on her for the choice she made to spread her legs at the time she did so.

I feel that single mothers can raise ballanced children,I am one that is proof my son went through school never failed a grade graduated from high school,Never has there been any behavioral problems,he was raised with God in his life he had well ballanced meals and we have a good relationship,his father was not there cause he chose not to take care if his resonsibility,he had good mentors in his life and where there was no father in the home his godfather and mother was there,he was in alot of activities and I attended all school functions...Quote me on this you can raise ballanced children in a single parent home..
