No matter what people may say about Tyler Perry, he will definitely go down in black history. You want be able to talk about black movies without mentioning his name! I mean, what other black director, producer, writer, is doing on a scale this large? Spike Lee(90's maybe)? BLACK PEOPLE WE GOTTA SUPPORT EACH OTHER, BECAUSE IF 1 FAILS WE SHUT THE DOOR ON THE NEX MAN! I WILL B GOIN 2 C IT! SALUTE MR.PERRY!

i rented the play and was a little confused but the message was clear black women and their struggles -- like the other person said research is needed -- i believe the play was back in 1977 not sure -- love the cast can't wait to see it

Good to see Whoopie in a movie. It's been awhile.
Good looking cast here. Missing, Angela Basset, Halle Berry, Sanaa Lathan, Regina King, Taraji P. Henson, Queen Latifah, Gabriel Union and Nia Long to round it off. :)

"FOR COLORED GIRLS WHO HAVE CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW IS ENUF" A CHOREOPOEM BY NTOZAKE SHANGE
VERY BEAUTIFUL READING. TAKE THE TIME TO READ, SOMETIMES YOU GRASP THE POINT BEING MADE IN THE MOVIE OR PLAY EVEN MORE JUST BY PICKING UP A BOOK. READING IS POWER. :)

I can see this is going to be a a very powerful movie. Tyler brings reality to @#$%! knows how to touch on the emotions of men and women through his selection of wrting, directing and choice of gifted actresses and actors. The play was powerful. This movie will speak beyond the magnitude of the play. I will see this beautiful film. S.Hodoh

Are we conditioned to be negative if a black person makes an accomplishment? OK some of you don't get it!!? But it's not like FOR COLORED GIRLS is a new out of the can project. It was a play. Read the book if "YOU DON'T GET IT".

The title of this film is from a poem by NTOZAKE SHANGE that was later adapted into a stage play. Tyler Perry really doesn't have good directorial skills, but I applaud him for trying with this subject matter. Perhaps he'll put Madea to rest.

His movies suck! The plots, story and the directing of his movies are amatuer like. Why does he always has to put his name on the title? I guess his movies can't stand on their own.

This movie is so bad in it's epic black man bashing that even the white women on the View asked Tyler why he puts out such negative depictions of black men.

This play came out at the height of Black feminism's Black man bashing period of the 70's spearheaded by lesbians such as Alice Walker and NTOZAKE SHANGE who wrote Colored Girls and made their blood money demonizing Black men. So please, support your own degradation.

I expect a film about Black Women bashing straight Black Men from Tyler. It's the "IN" thing right now. Besides that he's gay so it shouldn't affect him as well. Janet is a better actress than singer but at the same time goes him to her non-black man, Kerry Washington:Non-Black Man,Whoopi:Non-Black Man,Thandie Newton:Non-Black Man,Anika Noni Rose:Any white guy,Tessa Thompson:Non-Black Man,Macy Gray:Non Black Man. The only shine WE get comes from Kimberly Elise, Lorretta Devine, and Phylicia Rashad. Three out of ten sista girls in this movie go home to white men. So again, it doesn't surprise me to see Black Men Bashing. And for those Janet Jackson supporters, Jermaine was supposed to have revived her musica career and when that didn't happen she dropped his lil azz REAL quick. Now she's dating her preference.

FOR ALL THE NON-EDUCATED NEED TO BE BASHED BLACK MEN. I GOT A CHANCE TO SEE THE MOVIE. IT WAS WELL DIRECTED AND TASTEFULLY DONE. ALL THE BLACK MEN IN THE MOVIE WAS NOT NEGATIVE.(HILL HARPER) ITS NOT LIKE THE THINGS THAT HAPPENED TO THE BROTHAS WAS NOT TRUE. THE STORY IS ABOUT WHAT BLACK WOMEN AND MEN STRUGGLE WITH AND HOW THE WOMEN DEAL WITH IT. VERY GOOD AND POWERFUL MOVIE.

It order to fully appreciate the movie, you must read the book. Please quit bashing the producer for stating the facts. If some black men are offended by his plays, then they should do a better job of painting a better picture of themselves in the eye of the public. We are destroying our own image every time we make prime time for commiting some stupid crime or for perputrating dumb white criminals.
One brother fed up with stupid black men!
