Man whoever believes this conspiracy bull@#$%! is flat out DUMB. It was a gift from the French yea, but the design was NEVER changed. Lady Liberty is not even a real persom. She's a figure that represents Liberty. The chains there refering to were actually did represent the ending of slavery hence "Liberty".
