Lil Wayne's Farewell Performance To New Orleans Before Prison

Lil Wayne returned to his hometown of New Orleans yesterday (December 28) for what he terms his "farewell tour." "I'm nothing without you," he declared in front of thousands at the New Orleans Arena. Wayne will serve a year in prison, at the height of his career, starting on February 9, 2010. Dwayne Carter pleaded guilty in October to a weapons possession charge stemming from a 2007 traffic stop of his tour bus in New York. New York City Police discovered a bag with a loaded .40-caliber handgun on that stop but he also faces other charges. He also faces a March trial on felony drug possession and weapons charges in Yuma County, Ariz. "I hope Lil Wayne will follow in T.I.'s footsteps," said 32-year-old Jed Wright of Metairie, Louisiana. "T.I. promised to turn his life around. Lil Wayne can do the same thing." Fans can't wait for the release of his Rebirth album in Feb. 2010, and they are waiting to see what Drake, Nicki Minaj, and the rest of Young Money will do in Wayne's absence.
