NBA All-Star Game Snubbed By Allen Iverson - Update
The NBA All-Star game is the highlight of the NBA season and the only game in which fans get to see all of their favorite players (despite their statistics) play in the same game at the same time. A few weeks back, DimeWars reported on the seemingly unfair election of Allen Iverson into the game despite his only playing 16 games and averaging a measly 14.8 points. In an ironic twist, Allen Iverson was the second most popular player to be voted into the eastern conference behind Dwayne Wade. However, in a reversal of expectations, Allen Iverson will not be playing in the NBA All-Star Game AT ALL!! According to one blogger:
"Allen Iverson will not play in the Sixers' next two games as he attends to his ill child.The earliest Iverson will return is Feb. 16 against the Heat. He could be asked to come off the bench at that point, which could set off a whole new set of problems for coach Eddie Jordan. Again, the Sixers are 3-0 since Iverson has left the team and we think your team is probably better off without him as well."

Is everyone @#$%!ing crazy does anyone remember who AI is? all the years he played all the commercials he was in? He's a hall a fame player! He been through a tough time and if the fans vote him in. Then he should be there! Period! I am so sick and tired of this kind of bull@#$%!! one of the reason I stop watching the NBA! AI if you are reading this. It doesn't matter what anyone says! you have proven your self you have supported your family, and at the end of the day you are a success story, and as far as I am concerned. You deserve to be a all star every year till you retire!

Yes Iverson has had some controversy, but to attack him b/c he is a concerned father is not surprising. After all, we have seen far too many NBA players who cheat on their wives, father children out of wedlock, carry and brandish guns, who are violent and I guess Iverson goes against this by being a concerned father and does not fit in with the "guys". Iverson can't do anything that's going to satisfy everybody. Now the Sixers are dogging him to! I think he should have stayed retired and spent more time with his family while his kids are still young. He's in an industry that likes to destroy people.

I think AI has been given a hard time on purpose. He's a great player and lots of people give him a hard time. Sure he's got a bit of and attuide, but wouldn't you teams trading u in the middle of the seasons for someone less quailified than you, player not wantting to play the game with u, AI if your listening play on player as u can see the fans love u!!!!

Allen Iverson put his heart and soul into the NBA for years. If you like him or not he played the game full speed. Off the court, he is, who he is. So let the man take care of his family and if he decided not to play in the All Star Game repect his decision and move on people! Let A.I. live his private life in peace.

As long as the rules say the fans get to vote the starting lineup into the all star game. Then there is no question if he should be there or not.He should be, because the fans voted for him...... period!! Every one can stop taking it out on him, I bet he didnt even vote for himself. If we dont want him there, then we need to vote for some one better.

This article is very distasteful. Allen didn't snub the event. He didn't attend because his daughter is ill. Writers, naysayers and negative critics are on a scale of less than zero. He deserves some consideration for choosing to tend to his child. A loving parent would always chose their children first regardless of the circumstances or their celebrity. If anyone doesn't understand that then they are a severely flawed individual and should be ashamed of themselves. NBA festivities is of very little importance when you have a small child wh is ailing.
As for the moron who called him a thug, thugs stand on corners holding their weapons being a misfit to society. Allen is an NBA professional athlete who has never been in fight on the basketball court. Thugs are in the NHL brandishing their weapons and pummeling one another with fist.

I'd attend every A.I. Game (in Philly), until he retires.
He IS a success story, and deserves more respect for his contribution; not only to the Sixers, but to the NBA as well. He's been good for ticket sales, for over 10 years, and It's Always been exciting, to watch him play.
Same Respect, they gave to BARKLEY--UGHHH.!.!.! :(
