Michael Jackson Furniture To Serve A Greater Purpose In Charity
Michael Jackson's furniture before his death, ordered 22 pieces of custom-made furniture to grace a London pad during his "This Is It" comeback tour in England. Now, instead of being bequeathed to his children, the furnishings will be auctioned in June and are expected to command anything from $16,500 to $150,000 per item. Darren Julien of Julien's Auctions said a gilded red velvet sofa that seats nine, a leopard-print chair trimmed with ostrich feathers and a pair of velvet armchairs embroidered with gold eagles are among the offerings that were commissioned by Jackson from an Italian luxury furniture maker called Colombostile. The auction will also include items from Jackson's life and career. According to Reuters, a signed jacket that he wore for "Beat It," white crystal gloves and paintings from Neverland Ranch will also be available for bidding.
