Nicki Minaj Breaks Down During Acceptance Speech
Nicki Minaj never thought she would make it this far in the game. On the red carpet of the Billboard Women in Music Awards, Minaj told the Associate Press:
"It feels crazy, like, who would have thought that? I was just chillin’ out in Southside Jamaica, Queens, rapping. New York City. Never. I never would have imagined that, but it’s a blessing and I always say hard work pays off. Don’t be lazy. I’m racist against lazy people. I wish they did not exist in this world."
On the inside after accepting the award, Minaj couldn't contain her emotions during her tearful speech as she thanked her Barbz, Billboard and Taylor Swift - the country pop singer who put 'Super Bass' Nicki 's top selling single on the map.
"I just know that I am so incredibly thankful and grateful for a couple little kids. Maybe a few million, I call them my Barbz and I know they are not in here today but I know they will hear me say this. Barbz, I love you so much for being by my side for such a long time. Billboard, Thank you so much for recognizing me. Even before Superbass and even before Pink Friday, you believed in me."
After the accepting the award Nicki was interviewed by Robin Roberts where Nicki recalled how Taylor Swift helped propel her career with that hit. Watch Nicki Minaj Billboard for the full clip.
