Dwight Howard May Begin Playing For Lakers At Start of Season
Dwight Howard was running and jumping and dunking at his
first Los Angeles Lakers practice, a welcome sight for a team that said
it did not expect the perennial all-star center to be fully recovered
from back surgery in time for the start of the regular season.
Going by Tuesday, where he participated in a full practice, Howard
certainly could be in the team’s Nov. 2 opener against the Los Angeles
Clippers. In fact, he said h hopes to play in some preseason games to
get some timing down with his new teammates.
“Hopefully, I’ll be back for some preseason games,” Howard said. “I
think we’re going to need it for chemistry and all that stuff. But . . .
I’m not going to rush it. I’m going to continue to practice. We’ve had
some great practices.”
A source who witnessed Howard at the portion of practice that was
closed to the media described Howard’s level of play to
ESPNLosAngeles.com as “unbelievable.” Read more here.

Dwight Howard Takes Time To Say 'Thank You' To Orlando
Dwight Howard has no hard feelings towards Orlando..even if the feeling may not be mutual. Three weeks after leaving Orlando in a blockbuster trade that sent
him to the Los Angeles Lakers, the All-Star center took out a full-page
ad in Sunday’s Orlando Sentinel to express his appreciation for the city
and the chance to play there.
“To play the game of basketball in the NBA is a blessing and to have
had the opportunity to play before the Orlando fans for eight years was
truly a privilege and an honor,” Howard says in the advertisement, which according to a story on the newspaper’s website appears on Page C7.
“Words cannot express the love that I have for Orlando. With your
support we have done great things in this city from hanging banners to
impacting our youth.”
“Although my career with the Magic has come to a close, my love for
the city and the people that make it beautiful will never end.” Via: Atlantablackstar.com

Dwight Howard Finally Gets Trade To LA Lakers
Finally, after months of speculation, false rumors and wild guesses, Dwight Howard appears
to be traded. The former Orlando Magic center, who has some serious
reputation rebuilding to do, landed in the right place to do it: In Los
Angeles with the Lakers.
A blockbuster four-team deal is expected to be approved today by the
NBA, a trade that bolts the Lakers right back into the championship
conversation.
According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who spoke to Howard Thursday,
the perennial all-star center from Atlanta is ecstatic about being out
of Orlando and a new member of the storied Laker franchise.
Now, Los Angeles has a powerhouse lineup that includes future Hall of
Famers Kobe Bryant, recently acquired point guard Steve Nash and
Howard, along with forwards Pau Gasol and Metta World Peace. That
starting group matches up with or is better than any in the NBA.
The deal that got him there was this: the Lakers will receive Howard,
the Denver Nuggets get all-star and Olympian Andre Iguodala from
Philadelpha; the 76ers will receive center Andrew Bynum from the Lakers
and Jason Richardson from the Magic; and Orlando acquires Arron Affalo,
Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic from Denver and one protected future
first-round pick from each of the three teams. In addition, the Magic
will be getting other pieces, including 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe
Harkless. Read the rest here.

Dwight Howard Still Demanding Trade From Magic
Of course, two days could not go by without some “movement” on the Dwight Howard trade saga. He told the Magic general manager that he wants to be traded. Again.
Breaking news, right? That’s what this ongoing melodrama has become: When Howard, the all-star center, reiterates his position that he wants to be traded, it’s news – or something accepted as news.
Anyway, Howard and GM Rob Hennigan apparently met in Los Angeles, according to espn.com, on Wednesday. It was Hennigan’s “check in” meeting, which went exactly as his other “check in” meetings went with Howard – he made it clear that he wanted to be traded and that at the end of next season he would become a free agent.
This is almost like the cops coming over to a fender bender and telling the on-lookers, “OK, move on. Nothing to see here.”
Even the Los Angeles Lakers, who had been aggressively pursing Howard, seem to have centered (pun intended) their thoughts on granting their young, talented center, Andrew Bynum, a lucrative contract extension.
It’s the least they can do after offering him up in myriad deal scenarios to land Howard.
While the pace of the talks has frustrated executives and hamstrung business around the league, the Lakers seem to have found a way of remaining open to a trade for Howard while still going about their business.
Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said Wednesday he’s had “positive and productive” conversations with Bynum’s agent in recent days.

Dwight Howard Will Become A Free Agent
So, here it is: Dwight Howard will not participate in a sign and trade deal and he will not commit to any team he’s traded to, making it highly unlikely the Los Angeles Lakers – or any other team – will trade for him.
That’s what his agent, Dan Fegan, said.
“Dwight’s position has remained unchanged since the end of this past season,” Fegan said. “He fully intends to explore free agency at the end of next season, regardless of what team trades for him, including Brooklyn.”
A source said the Nets never insisted Howard commit to an extension as a prerequisite for acquiring him, which Nets president Billy King confirmed in a text message.
Dwight Howard told the Magic, according to general manager Rob Hennigan, he would like to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets to strike a deal for Howard earlier this month, but were forced to stop when the Charlotte Bobcats threatened to sign their restricted free agent center, Brook Lopez, to an offer sheet.
Lopez was expected to be a key part of any deal with the Magic and signing an offer sheet could have preempted including him in any deal, depending on the terms of the offer sheet. The Nets then signed Lopez to a four-year, $61 million deal.

Dwight Howard Misses Out on Brooklyn Nets
With the Brooklyn Nets supposedly out of the trade scenario for Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic general manager, Rob Hennigan, thought it the right time to see if the all-star center would reconsider his position on being moved.
Nice try.
Hennigan called Howard Wednesday night, hoping for a change of heart to give the new regime a chance. But Howard was just as adamant, according to ESPN the magazine, indicating he wanted to be dealt. His call came several hours after the Brooklyn Nets, the team Howard asked Hennigan to trade him to, made a futile last-gasp attempt to deal for him before the Charlotte Bobcats could sign one of the Nets’ key trade chips, center Brook Lopez, to an offer sheet.
Lopez agreed to a new contract with the Nets on Wednesday night. Terms of the contract have not been disclosed, but a league source ESPNNewYork.com that Lopez, a restricted free agent, agreed to a four-year, $60 million max deal.

Dwight Howard Cancels Basketball Camp
Orlando – It was not a good sign for the Magic when a representative for Dwight Howard announced that Howard was postponing his fifth annual youth basketball camp, scheduled for July 1-2 at the University of Central Florida.
The news would not have caused much of a stir ordinarily except for the kids who were scheduled to attend the camp. But Howard’s silence about his future in Orlando has led to considerable speculation about his intentions.
Most people believe he will be traded soon, possibly as early as the end of June during the NBA draft.
Howard who requested a trade early last season, has expressed displeasure with the team’s direction several times. His unhappiness led to distractions for the franchise throughout the season, something the Magic have vowed to avoid next season.
Unless he agrees to a long-term extension, the Magic likely will trade him and will begin a rebuilding project.
The Magic are scheduled to select 19th in the draft, but that position could change dramatically if Howard is part of a trade. Teams at the top of the draft, though, probably would want him to commit to a long-term contract, which he has been unwilling to do.
The Magic would love to land guard Austin Rivers of Duke, who went to high school locally, but they would have to move up several spots to get him.
Howard had surgery to repair a herniated disk, and he has remained in Los Angeles doing rehabilitation. He did not return to Orlando to watch the playoff series with the Pacers.
The Magic did fire coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith in hopes of placating Howard, but he has offered no indication that he would sign an extension.Source: Atlantablackstar.com

Royce Reed Wants Dwight Howard Gag Order Removed
Royce Reed wants the power to bash Dwight Howard and she wants the judge to help her. In a heated nearly three year long custody battle with Dwight Howard, Royce is requesting the gag order canceled so she can tell the public how unfit of a father Dwight really is.
Amongst other things,
-- Dwight is not morally fit to have custody of their son -- Dwight's mental state is sketchy -- Dwight has funny substances laying around the house the kid shouldn't see
If this is the same judge she accused of being biased towards Dwight Howard - her request is in vain.

Royce Reed Loses Battle To Remove Judge From Custody Trial
Basketball Wives star Royce Reed will have to deal with judge Tim Shea who's currently presiding over her custody case with Dwight Howard. Last month Royce and her attorney requested the judge to step down after they perceived a bias towards Dwight. Howard and his attorney accused Royce of preventing him from establishing a relationship with his son and creating roadblocks for him to his son on the already agreed upon visitation days.
Royce's request was denied as the judge refused to step down. “We believe that the judge’s ruling is erroneous and that it does not conform to the governing case law.”
It is not clear what the true relationship is between Royce, Dwight and their son but we must say after years of women receiving the benefits of a bias ruling, if Dwight is indeed trying to be a good father then he needs all the extra help he can get. Just saying...

Royce Reed Accuses Judge Of Bias Towards Dwight Howard
Basketball Wives star Royce Reed may lose her child custody battle because the presiding judge reportedly has a bias towards Dwight Howard over his celebrity status and a general disdain for women who have children out of wedlock with professional basketball players. Reed and her lawyers have filed a motion to remove Judge Tim Shea from the case. Dwight is requesting full custody of his son after accusing Royce of making it difficult for him to see their son on already scheduled days.
According to TMZ,
Royce claims Shea wouldn't let her present her side during a court hearing last month. Reed's lawyer also filed an affidavit saying that during the hearing, Judge Shea said he would award Howard custody, then decided to delay his decision ... despite the fact no evidence had been presented.

Kevin Hart Wins MVP After Ejection From Celebrity All-Star Game
Kevin Hart took his antics to the basketball court for the celebrity All-Star basketball game. In the end he was awarded the MVP trophy but not before getting ejected in the fourth quarter. Hart questioned a referee's call and shouted "This is bullsh*t" which resulted in a technical foul. Kevin proceeded to take off his sneakers, threw one at the ref, took off his jersey and nearly took off his shorts.
After receiving the trophy Kevin told ESPN's Stuart Scott,
"...sometimes being MVP isn't about points, Stuart. It's about what you do for your team."
Kevin was gracious enough to share the trophy with his teammate who scored the most points in their win, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Kevin Hart's team coached by Dwight Howard beat the west 86-54.

Dwight Howard Talks Fatherhood And Royce Reed
Orlando Magic player Dwight Howard opened up to Esquire magazine about fatherhood and the repairing the damaged relationship with the mother of his son Royce Reed
I know it’s a subject you haven’t wanted to talk about publicly, but is fatherhood a part of your life?
It’s very important. Hopefully me and my son’s mom will come to a better agreement for my son. When I do see him, we have the best time in the world. He acts just like me. He tries to run like me. He looks back and smiles like me. Fatherhood is great and it will get better. He’s young. He’s gonna need his father in his life. People say you don’t need a father to be successful. I take offense to that. I had an argument with my mom about Father’s Day and why it’s not celebrated like Mother’s Day.
I’ve been around the NBA enough as a writer to see the women who would give anything just to get impregnated. And I’ve seen the men who didn’t care how many kids they had in how many different places, just as long as they had someone to f**k on the road. Pardon my French.
I understand. With some of my teammates, they try so hard to be around their kid, and then the mother of their child makes it so hard. A lot of guys just say, “I’m not gonna deal with it.”
It’s always the kids who pay the price.
I would never, ever desert my child. A lot of my friends didn’t have fathers growing up, and they were very upset that their fathers weren’t around. I was lucky to have mine around.
Not sure what's happening behind closed doors but hopefully Dwight Howard never gives up the fight to be a part of his son's life..

Dwight Howard Remains Relentless In Efforts To Get Judgment From Royce Reed
Dwight Howard - Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard is reportedly going after the mother of his son "Basketball Wives" reality TV Royce Reed for the full judgment of $551,606.74(interest added to $500,000) reports TMZ. Dwight had previously filed a suit again Royce Reed when she repeatedly violated a gag order to refrain from speaking of Dwight Howard and their son in the press. Accounting for all the times Royce broke the court order, Howard sought $500 million, but a judge reduced it to $500k.
Not surprisingly, Royce hasn't ponied up the money and Dwight wants it now! So he goes after her assets in California according to TMZ. Perhaps he's under the impression she also negotiated a raise similar to Evelyn Lozada from her Basketball wives reality show. Even still, it's highly unlikely that Dwight Howard will get even half of that from Royce Reed's "assets".

Dwight Howard Chooses Kevin Durant Over LeBron James
Dwight Howard was asked on the Dan Patrick Show who he would want on his team, the All-Star chose Kevin Durant.
"I'm gonna go with Kevin," Howard said, who also insisted that the Lakers are still the best team in the NBA.
Kevin Durant just led Team USA to its first FIBA world basketball championship since 1994.
Dwight Howard isn't the only one to overlook LeBron James for another player. Last year, NBA legend Michael Jordan said Bryant is the best player in the league at one of his basketball camps.
Despite Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers winning the NBA championship this year, some people think the question of who is the best NBA player is between LeBron James and Kevin Durant.

Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard Takes A Beating - Bloody Nose Proves He's "Human" But His Play Proves Why He's Superman

Orlando Magic Center Dwight Howard rebounded from a bloody nose, after taking a slap to the face, to lead his team to a 112-98 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. He finished the game with 29 points and 17 rebounds as the Magic took a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal series. At the start of the third quarter, Howard made a layup while he was inadvertently slapped in the face by Al Horford, and blood poured from his nose. "I'm human. It's not like I'm built of metal," Howard said. "They did to me like they did the Wolverine. I bleed. I break bones." Howard missed the free throw, with cotton plugs in his nostrils, and immediately left the court so trainers could stop the bleeding. "I think he held his composure well," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "He took some hard hits on the offensive end of the floor, that's led to some frustration and at times retaliation on his part. He got hit damn hard tonight, blows that would have dropped a lot of people, certainly me." Vince Carter also contributed 24 points hitting some big shots late in the game. Howard led all players in points and rebounds. In the last 40 years, only three other players have scored 25 and collected 18 rebounds while shooting 85% in a playoff contest. Shaquille O'Neal was the last to accomplish it in 2006, Wes Unseld did it in 1979, and the great Wilt chamberlain did it in 1972.

Dwight Howard's Baby Mama Gets The Gag Order From Judge
Dwight Howard and his baby mama were at odds with each other because she continually tried to put him on blast on the internet, TV, radio and any other way she could. Fortunately, Dwight Howard had a judge that gave him a good look. According to AP:
The Orlando Magic superstar went to war in October with Royce Lyndsay Reed — the mother of his 2-year-old son — after she allegedly called him a deadbeat dad on her blog, Twitter and even during an ESPN interview.Dwight also alleges Royce “is attempting to become a celebrity” from being his baby mama … even agreeing to “participate in a VH1 television show called ‘NBA Wives.’” Dwight ended up winning a permanent injunction against Royce — and according to the documents, she’s banned from “using or publishing (orally, in writing, or otherwise), directly, indirectly or by innuendo, [Dwight’s] name, nicknames, image, brand photographs, and/or likeness.”
Wonder if Dwight Howard slipped judge brotherman some money on the low for a decision like that?
