Kobe Bryant and the Lakers Can Stop Panicking
The Los Angeles Lakers
of Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, et al, won a game. After
eight preseason losses that did not matter much but three regular season
defeats, concern set in with this team that had been projected by many
to be a championship contender.
Then the Detroit Pistons came to town and proved to be an elixir.
After their worst start to a season in 34 years, the Lakers finally,
occasionally resembled the powerhouse most expected to see this season —
even without Nash, who missed his second game with a small fracture in
his leg. Los Angeles took a 28-point lead in the first half and
stretched it to 36 points in the third quarter before winning 108-79.
“We had to stop the bleeding, and there wasn’t a way to do it other
than . . . getting a solid win,” forward Pau Gasol, who scored 14
points, said. “We’ve got a little bit of tension out of ourselves right
now.”
Howard was a force inside with 28 points. Bryant had 15, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Metta World Peach contributed 18 points.
“We needed this bad, just to change the mood and give us some of that
feel-good feeling,” said reserve guard Steve Blake, who started in
Nash’s place. “Losing games was tough. I guess we did a good job of
staying positive, but it feels good, that’s for sure.” Read the full story here.

Kobe Bryant Is A Hot Mess In This Photo Shoot - Pictures Included
NBA star, Kobe Bryant stars in today's WTF sports news. Apparently, it was somebody's idea to put Kobe Bryant in an all-white pilgrim outfit. These kobe Bryant fashion pictures are from a cover article in the L.A. Times Magazine appropriately titled "White Hot." And if you're thinking it's strange to put Kobe in all-white for a photo shoot, well, he's with you.
Tom Murray: I have to ask, when you're in that chopper, do you ever look down on the city, pinch yourself and say ... Kobe Bryant: How the hell did this happen? Absolutely every time. Like I'm sitting here right now. [Nods toward the two ladies primping him.] You know what I mean? This is dream [expletive]. Wardrobe that's all white? This just doesn't happen. Not for me. This is crazy.

Kobe Bryant Misses Out On Pre-Playoff Games
The Los Angeles Lakers gave Kobe Bryant the night off for the second game in a row to allow him to rest his legs and aching right index finger. The Lakers need only one victory or a Nuggets loss in the final five games to lock up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. Kobe Bryant's aching finger contributed to 13 of 47 shooting in his previous two games, so coach Phil Jackson chose to rest him to get ready for the playoffs. According to Reuters:

Ron Artest Trying Too Hard To Be The Next Dennis Rodman
Basketball Ron Artest, is the latest in a long line of basketball stars looking to distinguish themselves from the star players on their teams. 20 Years ago, it was an player named Dennis Rodman trying to distinguish himself from the greatest basketball player of all time - Michael Jordan. LA Lakers Dominate The Court 3-0 Without Kobe Bryant
NBA star, Kobe Bryant missed the Los Angeles Lakers' final game before the All-Star break with a sore left ankle. Bryant originally sprained his ankle on Jan. 29 in Philadelphia and aggravated it last week. However, the Los Angeles Lakers continued to thrive in the absence of Kobe Bryant, beating the Utah Jazz 96-81 on Wednesday. Lamar Odom had 25 points and 11 rebounds while Pau Gasol put up 22 points and 19 boards as the Lakers improved to 3-0 since Bryant was sidelined with an ankle injury. The Lakers' strong play without Kobe Bryant probably only reinforces the notion in many voters' minds that the NBA's most valuable player is LeBron James.
It does make sense that if the Lakers can play on without Kobe Bryant, especially being 3 - 0, that maybe Kobe 'ball hog' Bryant isn't as valuable as he'd like to think! Just a thought. You can watch video highlights of Kobe Bryant in the related video section below.

According to one sports writer:

Ron Artest Speaks On Concussion Incident Causing Him To Miss 3 Consecutive Games
NBA star Ron Artest, still can't remember how he fell and hit his head Christmas night - the original story says that he tripped on a box or a Christmas gift. However it happened, it left him with a deep cut on his left elbow, some memory loss and an inability to play the past three Laker games. During halftime at the Golden State game, he told reporters:
"I'm grateful to be up and talking, and it could have been a whole lot worse. My wife said I was asleep for two or three minutes. It took about an hour to get my senses back. I didn't feel it, that's the scary part."

Ron Artest Gets Concussion From Falling Down The Stairs, Will Miss Next Game
NBA star Ron Artest may be missing a few games with the L.A. Lakers as a result of receiving a concussion from an injury to the head. The official story is that Ron, tripped over a box in his house and fell down a flight of steps. Coach Phil Jackson was asked about his interpretation of the Artest situation Lakers Coach Phil Jackson seemed irritated:
"What do you mean, what's my interpretation? What's that supposed to mean? Let me see, my interpretation is that an accident happened, he fell down, he ended up in the hospital, and he came out with some stitches. Other than that, I can't add anything to it."
