Usain Bolt Wins Jamaica International Invitational 200 Meters With 4th Fastest Time Ever
Usain Bolt stole the show Saturday night (May 1) at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston. The current world record holder finished the 200 meter race in 19.56 seconds. The time was only 0.37 seconds slower than when he ran his world record time of 19.19, in the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, Germany. Bolt's time Saturday at National Stadium was 0.37 seconds off the world record of 19.19 that he set last year in the world championships in Berlin. "I had to come out here and give Jamaica a good show. This is the first time that the meet has had this kind of crowd support, so I couldn't come out here and mess around, I had to give the people what they came here for," said Bolt, still full of energy after his powerful run. I did my best and I hope they appreciate it." The 23-year-old has not made up his mind about participating in this year's Commonwealth Games in India. Justin Gatlin, who was banned from track and field for four years for using performance-enhancement substances, will also return to competition this year. "I went out there to see where I'm at. It's my first real race for the season, so I went out there to get my confidence right and to get settled for the rest of the season, and 19.56 is very good. I'm pretty much about 95 per cent ready and I'm feeling good. I have a lot more work to do and I have about a month and a half before I get into the full swing of competition."
