Ice Cube Refuses To Discuss NWA Departure
Ice Cube may have done quite a few things with his career since leaving the famed hip hop group NWA in 1989, a slew of movies, several solo albums and production and directorial credits. One would think that Ice Cube may have moved past that glitch in 1989. Not so much, at least according to TMZ. Ice was bombarded by a TMZ cameraman who proceeded to ask a few questions surrounding Cube's upcoming film "21 Jump Street". Then the cameraman decided to get a little bold and ask about NWA.
"Do you regret ever leaving NWA?" Asked the cameraman. After giving the cameraman the side eye, Ice Cube responded, "No More Questions". While the cameraman attempted to salvage his reputation, Ice Cube kept it moving...maybe Cube just wasn't in the mood to talk past relationships...Eh

Ice Cube's ESPN Documentary Shows N.W.A. Gave Raiders New Image

Ice Cube's Straight Outta L.A. isn't the typical film you'd expect from the creator of the Friday movies. This made-for-ESPN documentary reveals the economic and cultural impact N.W.A. had on one of professional sports' most popular, recognizeable, and iconic franchises: the Raiders. N.W.A. was Cube's gangsta-rap group from the late eighties which, some sources say, started the gangsta rap penomenon. N.W.A. liked almost everything about the Raiders including their uniform colors and pirate logo. The group even adopted the team's ruthless on-the-field demeanor as part of the group's own image. This came at a time in history when hip hop had just became a global phenomenon. As fans worldwide watched N.W.A. wear Raiders apparrel on every album cover, phot and video shoot, the team went from profiting millions to billions in a few years. Straight Outta L.A. premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival and will be aired on ESPN for part of its "30 for 30" documentary series, in which the director's personal involvement proves integral to the subject. Here are some questions Ice Cube answered in a recent interview about the film.
Who came up with the title for your new documentary?
It was pretty simple really. We named our album In 1989 Straight out of Compton and the Raiders were in and out of LA so quick. The title was an easy way to sum up what the picture was about.
The fusion of music and sports?
That's right. In a lot of ways. Music has done a lot to enhance the emotions of sports. It's played in arenas. Whenever there is footage cut together they're always using music. And it goes together, you know. Sports without music is just a game. Music makes it entertaining.
You've gotten some incredible talent to participate on this film!
Yeah! We've got Ice-T, Snoop Dogg, Chuck D, got John Madden, Al Davis, Marcus Allen, and we've got a lot of politicians who were around at that time. So, to me, we've got a full array of ideas and points of view. It makes for a good documentary.

Ice Cube and Lebron James making a film for the ABC network
Ice Cube is becoming the next Martin Scorsese by linking up Lebron James to develop and executive produce a one-hour drama for ABC.
The show will be based on James' experiences as a black high school student playing in a small town. Hmmm...we haven't seen that story done before.
Ok. Ok. we have seen this overdone story line, but you got to watch it when it's Doughboy producing it.

Ice Cube To Play TV Cop
Move over Ice T, there may be a new rapper-turned-actor sheriff in town. According to major hollywood publications, Ice Cube is being "agressively pursued" by NBC to fill a role as a cop on a new TV sitcom. According to Studio Ben Silverman:
"As we continue
to expand our roster of diverse talent both on camera and behind the
camera, a guy like Ice Cube, who's multi-talented, is someone we really
wanted to be in business with. He's had an amazing career, to have gone
from (hip-hop group) N.W.A to this.We really want to capture his
voice and his eye for talent, and his producing acumen. If he appeared
in the pilot or series, we'd be really excited about that."
Dang Cube, what happened to F The Police, and all the lench mobb records? Looks like you forgot about this:
