Lakers Sign Veterans Matt Barnes & Theo Ratliff
Los Angeles Lakers have signed veteran players Matt Barnes and Theo Ratliff for the 2010-11 NBA season. The Lakers are leaning on the old sports cliche that "defense wins championships" as they add Matt Barnes and Theo Ratliff, two experienced defensive players, to their roster.
The Los Angeles Lakers are the two-time defending champions and look to win a third straight championship again this coming season. Theo Ratliff, shot blocker and low post defender, signed to a one year, $1.35 million deal with the Lakers. Matt Barnes turned down the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, and a more lucrative deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the two-time champions. Matt Barnes agreed to a two-year deal worth $3.6 million. Barnes is a native of California and an alumni of UCLA and will be a valuable addition to the Lakers roster despite his differences with Kobe Bryant.
Can the Lakers win a third straight championship?
